These results are estimates for planning, not legal advice. Contributions are rounded to the rupee; EDLI and admin charges are shown to the paisa (the challan rounds the totals). The admin charge has a minimum of ₹500 a month for the whole establishment, not per person. September 2026, the month the ceiling changed, is split by days in EPFO's FAQ; this calculator shows whole months.

How it's worked out

  • The ceiling: S.O. 5109(E) raised the PF wage ceiling from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month from 17 Sep 2026. PF is due on the wage up to the ceiling; an employer may choose to pay on the full wage.
  • Your share: 12% of the PF wage, plus any VPF you choose (up to the whole wage).
  • The employer's share: 12% too. Of it, 8.33% of the wage up to the ceiling goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and the rest to your PF account (EPF). At 58 the pension share stops and all of it goes to EPF.
  • On top: the employer also pays EDLI insurance at 0.5% of the wage up to the ceiling, and EPFO's admin charge at 0.5% of the PF wage (₹500 a month at least, per establishment). EDLI admin charges have been nil since 1 Apr 2017.
  • The wage: since the Labour Codes, PF is worked on wages as the Codes define them: basic, DA and retaining allowance, plus the amount by which HRA and other allowances pass half of all pay. The salary calculator works that out from a CTC.
