Approval chains and delegating
Set who approves leave, claims, salary revisions and other requests, and hand your approvals over while you're away.
Updated 15 October 2026
What you’ll do: change who approves each kind of request, and pass your own approvals to a colleague while you’re on leave.
Who can do this: org admins set approval chains. Every employee can hand over their own approvals.
Setting an approval chain
- In Dexta Hub, open Approval chains under Admin.
- Pick the kind of request: Leave, Attendance correction, Overtime, rest-day work and comp-off, Shift swap, Expense claim, Advance, Loan or salary advance, One-off payment, Salary revision, Profile change or Letter.
- Click Add a step, then Add an approver. Set How many must approve at that step.
- Use Only for some requests for a step that applies only sometimes, and If nobody decides in time for what happens when a step waits too long.
- Click Try it for a person to see who would approve a request from them. Then click Save chain.
Handing over your approvals
- Open Approvals while away in the left menu.
- Under Hand your approvals to someone, choose Who, the First day and Last day, and add a Note (optional).
- Click Hand over my approvals. Requests that would come to you go to them for those days.
Good to know
- A chain you haven’t changed shows Today’s flow. One you’ve edited shows Changed; Undo my changes goes back.
- My approvals go to and I approve for show every hand-over, marked Now, Coming up or Ended.
- Org admins see all current hand-overs under Approving for someone else.
