WhatsApp and SMS alerts
Send Dexta's alerts by WhatsApp or SMS, with your DLT registration and quiet hours.
Updated 15 October 2026
What you’ll do: switch on WhatsApp or SMS alerts for your company, add your DLT details, and ask everyone for a mobile number.
Who can do this: org admins.
The messages go out through a provider account (MSG91, Gupshup or Twilio) connected to your Dexta. For SMS in India you also need your company’s DLT registration: an entity id, a sender id and your registered message templates. Until a provider is connected, the page says so, and alerts still arrive in the bell and by email.
Steps
- In Dexta Hub, open WhatsApp and SMS under Admin.
- Under Channels, switch on WhatsApp, SMS or both. With both on, WhatsApp is used and SMS only when WhatsApp can’t send that alert.
- Under DLT registration (SMS), enter your DLT entity id and Sender id (header, 6 letters).
- Under Registered messages, enter the template id for each message and the text exactly as registered. Each shows Registered or Not registered.
- Set Quiet hours so alerts wait until morning.
- Under Mobile numbers, check that Ask everyone for a mobile number is on (it is from the start). Everyone without one is asked after they sign in; once WhatsApp or SMS alerts are on, they confirm it with a code.
Good to know
- Alerts go only to Indian mobile numbers (+91).
- The usage card shows what was sent each month, and an Estimated cost when a price per message is entered.
- Phone notifications from the installed Dexta app need no outside account.
