Running Dexta on your own serverDexta Hub

Connecting your company's email

Send Dexta's invites, alerts and reminders from your own mail server.

Updated 15 October 2026

What you’ll do: connect a mail account so Dexta can send invites, password resets and alerts.

Who can do this: org admins, with your mail account’s SMTP details from IT.

You need a mail account that can send by SMTP, such as your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account, or your own mail server.

Steps

  1. In Dexta Hub, open Organisation and the Email tab (step 8 of the set-up).
  2. Under Mail server (SMTP), enter the Host, Port, Username and Password, the From address and the Sender name. Click Save.
  3. Click Send test email and check your inbox.
  4. The Outbox shows each email as Queued, Sent, Failed or Held: no mail server. Failed ones can be retried.

Good to know

  • Until mail is set up, Dexta holds mail rather than losing it (it shows Held: no mail server), and password resets tell people to ask their administrator.
  • On your own server, IT can also set one mail account for the whole server in its settings file, as the deployment guide explains.
  • Dexta stores mail passwords encrypted.
