Submitting an expense claim
Add an expense with its receipt, save it, and submit it, alone or as part of a report.
Updated 15 October 2026
What you’ll do: claim back money you spent for work.
Who can do this: every employee.
Steps
- In Dexta Spend, open My Expenses and click New expense (or Add multiple for several at once).
- Fill in the Title, Amount, Expense date, Currency, Category and a Description.
- Under Receipt, attach the file. On a phone you can use Take a photo of the receipt.
- If the bill is a GST invoice made out to your company with its GSTIN, tick the box for it and fill in the GST details (see GST on expense claims).
- Click Save draft, then Submit on its row. It goes to your manager.
Claiming several expenses together
- Save each one as a draft.
- Open My Reports and click New report. Tick the expenses under Draft expenses to include and click Create report.
- Click Submit.
Good to know
- Your company’s policy may need a receipt for a category. Without one, the claim isn’t submitted, and Dexta says why.
- Going over a monthly limit gives a warning, or blocks the claim if your company has set department limits to block.
- Changed your mind? Recall turns a submitted claim back into a draft, so you can change it and submit again.
- My Dashboard shows what you’ve claimed and what’s been paid. My Bank Account is where your claims are paid.
