Filling a weekly timesheet
Book your week's hours against projects and tasks, then send the week to your manager.
Updated 15 October 2026
What you’ll do: fill in a week of hours by project and task, save it, and send it for approval.
Who can do this: every employee.
Steps
- In Dexta Time, open Fill timesheet in the left menu. You see Weekly timesheet for this week.
- Use the Previous week and Next week arrows to pick another week.
- Choose a Project and a Task, then click Add line. Repeat for each piece of work. Copy last week’s lines saves time when your week looks the same.
- Type your hours under each day. The top of the grid shows how much you’ve booked against your target and how much is still to book.
- Click Save draft whenever you like. Nothing goes to your manager yet.
- When the week is complete, add a Note for your manager if you want, click Send for approval, and confirm with Send for approval.
Good to know
- Weekends, company holidays and approved leave are shaded and locked, and your target drops for a shorter week.
- After you send it, the week shows Waiting on and your manager’s name. When it’s done it shows Approved by them.
- If your manager sends the week back, their note is on the sheet. Fix it and click Resubmit for approval.
- Can’t book against a project that has ended? Click Request unlock, give a Reason and Send request.
- If the week can’t be sent yet, Dexta tells you why in This week can’t be sent yet.
