The Labour Codes check
Switch on the Labour Codes so every run applies the 50% wage rule, the deductions cap and the pay-by dates.
Updated 15 October 2026
What you’ll do: tell Dexta how each salary component counts under the Labour Codes, then let every run check the rules for you.
Who can do this: payroll admins.
Steps
- In Dexta Pay, open Compliance Rules under Admin and find the Labour Codes card.
- Under 1. How each salary component counts, check how each component is treated. You can also set this per component on Salary Components (How it counts under the Labour Codes).
- Under 2. Settings for what the law leaves open, make the choices your company has decided on.
- Under 3. Minimum wage for the statutory bonus, enter the minimum wage that applies to you.
- Click Start using the Labour Codes.
- In your next run, each payslip row shows Wages under the Labour Codes.
Good to know
- Wages are basic pay and DA, plus whatever allowances come to above half of the month’s pay. PF, gratuity and bonus are worked out on that figure.
- Deductions are limited to half of wages. Anything over the limit is carried to later months, and the payslip row says so.
- The run tells you when pay is due under the Code on Wages and marks a run Paid late if it goes past that date.
- A leaver’s pay is due within two working days. See Full and final settlement.
